History of the Hacienda

The incredible feat of a group of Japanese adventurers is documented in a black and white photograph which depicts the victorious explorers poised on the perfectly triangular peak of Mount Salkantay. The mountain name comes from the Quechua word ‘sallqa’ translating to ‘indomable’ in Spanish and meaning untamable or savage. Being the highest peak of Cordillera Vilcabamba range, the sacred mountain has made a name for itself in the hiking world. However back in June 1965 the Japanese team were only the third group ever to successfully ascent the 6,271 meter high peak. Adventure Travel World Summit 2017

Peru Ecocamp was thrilled to attend the Adventure Travel World Summit for the first time this year. Our Founder and CEO Raul Montes took the trip to Salta to represent the company. Raul was happy to join the summit and meet up with old friends from the business as well as make many new friends. Raul partook in the Day of Adventure organised by ATTA and explored the stunning Salta countryside on horseback. Forget Camping, Come Glamping

The concept of ‘glamping’ has been circulating the globe for over a decade, and as the phenomenon grows in popularity, it continues to spread to every corner of the world.
